Trump Reportedly Orders Invasion Plans for Greenland
Trump has long expressed interest in asserting control over Greenland, an autonomous territory under Danish authority, pointing to security considerations and the need to counter Russia and China. He has not excluded the possibility of using military force to capture the island, a position that has put him at odds with European NATO members who have rallied in support of Denmark.
As reported by the media outlet, Trump directed the Joint Special Operations Command to draft invasion scenarios. However, the Joint Chiefs of Staff have resisted, arguing that such an action would be unlawful and lack approval from Congress. One source told the outlet that senior generals “have tried to distract Trump by talking about less controversial measures,” including a “strike on Iran.”
The push to seize Greenland is said to have been driven by several of Trump’s advisers, among them political aide Stephen Miller. These advisers, emboldened by the recent US assault on Venezuela, are reportedly eager to act swiftly to secure the island before Russia or China attempt to do so.
