European Nations Show Support for Denmark, Greenland
In a formal statement, the French Foreign Ministry reiterated that national sovereignty and the inviolability of borders remain core principles of international law.
"France therefore reaffirms its respect for the Kingdom of Denmark’s territorial integrity," the ministry declared, referring to Danish authority over Greenland.
The statement also recalled that during his June visit to Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed France’s steadfast backing for Denmark and Greenland’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot likewise stressed Belgium’s full solidarity with Denmark and the people of Greenland.
"Be it in Ukraine, the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) or Greenland, territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law, enshrined in the UN Charter, that must be respected by all," he wrote on the US social media platform X.
Slovenia’s Foreign Ministry also echoed this stance, underscoring that sovereignty and territorial integrity are fundamental principles of international law and must be upheld universally.
